 :: JCT Band Information!

We now have our own Gallery Page on the Web! You can visit our gallery here: JCT 6th Grade Band Pictures 2006/2007! Please check this page frequently for updated information and requirements for band. We appreciate having your children in the JCT Band learning the importance of Music and Instruments!

Practice Records

Students should begin recording their practice times on Monday, September 18. Parents will need to sign the practice record at the end of each week. I will check their totals and parent signature each Monday and record the minutes in the grade book. 20% of the students' grade will be based on practice records.

Madison H.S. Band

The Madison H.S. Band will visit JCT on Wednesday, October 4 and perform a short stage show for the Band students at 9:30 a.m. in the gym. Band parents are invited to attend this performance which will be over by 10:00. Thanks to Jan Warren, band director at Madison for offering to perform at our school!

Brass Quintet

The Jackson Symphony Brass Quintet will perform a free program for the Band members and 5th graders at JCT on Friday, October 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. The brass quintet members will present an educational and entertaining program which will last about 40 minutes. Parents are invited to attend this performance.

Band Fundraiser

The band will sell holiday wreaths starting Friday, October 6. Students will have almost 2 weeks to sell these beautiful wreaths. These are fresh wreaths from Minnesota which are of a very high quality. The "Traditional" wreath will sell for $17 and the "Victorian" wreath will sell for $20. I think you will be very pleased with the quality of these holiday items. Please begin talking this sale up to your friends. These wreaths would make great corporate/business gifts for someone to give to their employees. ALL the profits raised will go to the BAND only, so please participate in this fundraiser. Students who sell at least 5 wreaths will get a free JCT Band Shirt to wear at the Christmas Concert! Students who sell at least 10 wreaths will get a band shirt AND a free lunch when I take the band to hear the Jackson Symphony perform in March!

Clarinet and Saxophone Players

Parents of clarinet and saxophone players; please be aware that beginners go through reeds very rapidly in the early weeks of playing. It is essential that your child have enough playable reeds in their case. A minimum of 4 playable reeds should be in their case at all times. Students with no reeds are unable to play and just sit during band which results in them getting behind. I've provided all students with a list of Jackson music stores along with hours and addresses. Please keep this at home for your use.
