:: WeatherBug!
Jackson Careers and Technology has installed a new weather tracking station and has joined the nationwide WeatherBug program. The weather station enhances the school's curriculum through an innovative program called WeatherBug Achieve, developed by AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc., while also providing real-time weather conditions to the local community.
"This new program will turn our students into budding meteorologists," said Carolyn Carter, Principal of Jackson Careers and Technology.
"It will strengthen their learning experience across several different subject areas and also give them a great sense of pride in their school because we are providing a key service to the community. We are proud to be a part of this innovative program."
WeatherBug Achieve is an award-winning, interactive, learning program that seamlessly integrates real-time local and national weather data and camera images into a range of science, math, technology and geography lessons for elementary, middle and high school students.
Using WeatherBug Achieve, teachers can create customized learning activities based on current and historical weather conditions from the Jackson Careers and Technology tracking station, such as wind speed or humidity. In addition, students can compare local weather conditions to data from more than 7,000 other schools nationwide that participate in the WeatherBug program.
